Well this is the first 4th of July that I can say in a long time I didn’t have much fun. I had talked to Mac about going to the party and helping him keep it going etc. and I brought up the common factor in 99.9% of all parties I have gone to. Food.

Now Food is considered vitally important by most people and a lot of people really enjoy food. And I personally cannot think of a party without food. Take that back. A party is judged by it’s food. So upon discovering that there is no food I said well I’ll make dessert and then if we have enough money everyone can pitch in and we can grill burgers or something. 

Upon arriving out in the middle of BFE’s incestuous love child with a parade of cars, dodging the washout in the road, and unloading a stupid amount of explosives I begin to have this uneasy feeling of what this party will entail.

Let me first begin with my idea of a basic 4th of July party.

• Food. You will either have munchies (like fresh veggies and/or chips) as well as a dessert table or you have actual dinner prepared like burgers and dogs with fries and roasted corn.
• Explosion Area. You have a dedicated spot where the explosions will take place. It makes cleanup easier and allows people to position themselves so that they can watch from the best angle. 
• Beverages. You MUST have something other than a KEG. Hell you don’t even need a Keg. Unless like 60-80 people are showing up that all like the same beer you have no business buying a keg for the event. There are so many other good alcohols that you can buy and for gods sake at least have sprite and water available.
• Outdoor lighting is a Must. I am a Klutz. Anyone who reads my blogs knows I am a kluz. It is a standard thing for me to fall down while walking down the hallway, no obstructions, just to fall. Other people when drunk get my walking savvy and therefore should be able to SEE WHERE THEY WALK!!!!
•  NO MINORS!!!! If you haven’t graduated High-school you have no business going to any party I am going to! I mean can we list the issues? If cops show up we are screwed. Someone always has to babysit the minors to make sure they don’t seduce or are seduced by someone at the party and again more cops arriving. I mean that’s just a no.

So I left off my last post saying that Gary is doing much better post op and thankfully that is still holding true to form. He is feeling much better and eating well again and the pain has gone down substantially. On another good note he finally got his promotion and his pay raise is in effect so all is good at work as well. We found out they might be fast tracking him to assistant and if they do that means benefits and salary which are both good words in our household.

As the title suggests I have again visited the local Edmond Medical Hospital. Yes I still have the luck of unlucky roadkill - you know that possum you hit and go back and forth over 15 times and when you back up to look at it it is still moving - yup that’s me.

Yesterday I went to Michael and Berry’s house after the three of us went and saw Prince Caspian - awesome movie by the way. We then headed over to their house and played Wiifit all afternoon and late into the evening - about 12 am - and completely wore myself out but it was amazingly fun and I am more determined to find a way to get my hands on one than I ever was before mainly because even though I was sore and exhausted when I went to bed when I woke up I felt wonderful with no pain and immediately wanted to go back and get on it again which is new for me.

Upon waking up this morning (around 10:30 but I stayed in bed until noon with Gary)  I promptly hopped out of bed and made biscuits and sausage gravy for everyone and decided I would have a bake war with myself for fun. Three flavors of chocolate covered pretzels - white, strawberry, and normal milk chocolate - puppy chow as well as a batch of some chocolate chip cookies with pecans. So at about 2pm after doing all of the dishes and feeding everyone and grabbing food for myself the baking commences!!! And what do I start with?? Why my favorite item of course! White chocolate covered pretzels.

Now Cathy, Gary’s Mom, Gave us three bowls of chocolate (hence the three flavors) once she found out that I liked making chocolate covered pretzels because she had some extra from something that she did. So I break out the White chocolate bowl and try to get the chocolate out. Unfortunately I discover it was put in hot and has since adhered itself to the bottom of the bowl. Kristin’s brain instantly goes - Well. Just cut it out then. So i get a knife and start slicing the chocolate out of the bowl into the double boiler on the stove holding a knife in one hand and the bowl of chocolate in the other. In this stupid position apparently I also forgot that you are never supposed to cut towards yourself, keep this in mind. So here I am I have 3/4 of the chocolate out of the bowl and then I slice back and the knife keeps going beyond the chocolate allong the rim of the bowl and a 1/4 inch into the palm of my hand.

Yup that’s right I am a genius.

So I instantly thing save the chocolate! Remove the knife drop the bowl on the sink and proceed to scream and cry like a little girl over to the sink and turn the water on.  This rightly freaks both Ogre and Gary out that are sitting in the Living room and they come running in to see wtf is going on and see blood on floor and all over the sink and a screaming crying Kristin. Gary still in his PJ’s runs for insurance and grabs his keys. Ogre puts paper towels in my hands and wraps that with a towel and says “hold it as tight as you can” (this comment becomes much funnier later) and we run to the truck and start heading to the hospital.

On the way we discover apparently I am hysterical in bad situations - both definitions uncontrolled panic and wildly funny - and proceeded to rant about how I needed to start bidding on massive amounts of common sense on Ebay. We arrive, me still crying like a banshee, and we fill start filling out all of the personal info to get me in to see the doctor. We have all the basics until we get to the “reason for visit” and Gary stops and is trying to think of how to describe the incident. I began putting in my opinions - I’m a dumbass, Stabbed myself while cutting the chocolate, I do all my own stunts, I’m a double dipped dipshit, etc. - thereupon he continues to laugh uncontrollably.

We finish all of the paperwork and I head back to the nurse and discover that the comment to hold the towel on my hand as tight as possible doesn’t mean cut off the blood flow which I have successfully done and now my fingers and knuckles are blue. So upon removing the towel and blood flow surging back my hand REALLY starts hurting and I am cursing Ogre for the “hold it as tight as you can” comment however I have successfully stoped the bleeding at the wound so all is good in that respect. The nurse while she is taking my blood pressure asks “you aren’t taking any regular medications are you? And the first thing that goes through my head is “crap you are kidding me I’ll be here all day!” So i start rattling off everything I am on… Crestor, Tricore, Fish Oil, Fiber Pills, Lunesta, Ambian, Mobic, daily multivitamin, ortho evra - and the lady is looking at me like I’m a loon of course.

We finish up at the entry station and I am escorted back to a room where a Doctor, a Nurse Practitioner, and a Nurse walk into the room (no this is not a joke I just realized that that sentence has the same setup as a walk into a bar joke…) and I proceed to get them all laughing hysterically. Not sure what I was saying just knew that my hand hurt. Upon all of this happening I get a local numbing agent and they proceed to give me three stitches. Me being the Klutz Queen everyone knows me to be might find it slightly amusing that this is my first experience with stitches and I have plans to never allow it to happen ever again. Yeah that wasn’t fun and dear god I must have made someone deaf because I screamed my lungs out.

I finish up everything and they discharge me and wrap my hand in bandages advise me clean and dry for 24 hours and give me all of the instructions for having a safe and happy hand. They also didn’t give me melt away thread like my back was so I have to have all of the stitches removed in a week. Also not a fun concept. Gary on the way out realized he took me to the ER in his PJ’s and he’s like “I never leave the house in my PJ’s” I responded that’s just because he cared for me he went for comfort and not fashion. We get back home and confirm the chocolate is safe and blood free while talking to my sister and get invited over for pork steaks.

Gary has to head to work but he drops me off so that I can go hang with my sister and Ralph her husband. Michael and Berry were also there as well as Chereena and Braken her new beau. I like him BTW he is my favorite in the past 6 years. We eat which is always good and hang out a bit. Stacy gave me an awesome briefcase that has rollers and is big enough for my laptop however when I was leaving in all of my brilliance I forgot it up there so we will have to go pick it up tomorrow when we drop off the carpet cleaner we borrowed. But all in all good fun and good foods and then Michael and Berry drove me home.

I swore I would finishthis blog and then go to bed but the arrival of Trevor, Cassie, April, Her kids and Ogre have slightly delayed my initial sleep time plans and It is now 11:37 when I was planning on being in bed by around 10ish. So I’m right on schedule… or as off schedule as I usually am. Well I’m headed off to bed with my ziploc bag and my masking tape so I can seal up my hand all good and proper when I take my morning shower tomorrow. All in all I hope it is a non busy fast paced day just so I don’t have to worry about anything major and can get home. As a general rule I truly hate Mondays because I can’t get back int he groove until about noonish and by then half the day is spent.

On a final not however I am going to start composing the book of my life that everyone has been so adamant on. I will be changing names and altering a few events but I am going to create it I have finally decided.

So I posted about the wonders of my trip to Texas, the worst state in the union, and now that I am back home more drama has ensued. Whoever decided to beat me with the Drama stick - stop it or I will shove a drama tree up your ass.

I began this post on 3rd and the world has just turned Gary and I upside down into a blender an pressed disintegrate. Fun right?? Well here is the breakdown of life since the trip from hell to Texas.

Gary and I celebrated our 10 month anniversary on the 4th, It’s hard to believe we have been living together in such a peaceful way and still having fun and there still being new and shiny things about our relationship after 10 months. That is such a new feeling for me. I am wanting to do anything in my power to make him happy and that also is a new thing for me. Generally like most humans on the planet I think of my own survival first and then concern myself with other’s well being. The exception to this being parents for their children of course. The night of our anniversary was wonderful and a lot of fun.

The next morning however wasn’t. When Gary woke up the left side of his jaw didn’t exist. It was so swollen there was no jawline on that side of his face at all and looked like he had two golfballs in his lower jaw. So he walks into his dentists office and was immediately sent to sit in a chair so that they could take a look at it. Because we already knew he had 4 accesses that were infected and his jaw was overly swollen the Dentist advised that he would only address the swelling, which needed to be lanced immediately, if he could remove the 4 teeth at the same time otherwise it was to dangerous to do either one. Problem is the procedure to get everything fixed is $1200 which we didn’t have at that moment in time. Dentist advised if it gets hard or begins to hurt more go to the ER because they would have to do something so he didn’t die from the toxins in his jaw.

So Gary applies for Care Credit with Cathy as a Co-Signer and they unfortunately get declined, we don’t find this out until the next day, and so I call Wally to apply with me and thankfully we get approved and he is rushed into the dentist and everything is taken care of. And he is much much much better for it. Swelling is gone and he is just taking daily doses of uber medications of doom to prevent further infection. After his jaw has set and the infection has died 30 days down the road from his surgery he gets to go in for an impression to be done on his lower left hand side of his jaw to have a partial built so he has something on the left side of the jaw. Currently there is just a big gap between his wisdom tooth and his canine.

On the night of the 4th and the 5th we finally cleared everything out of the old apartment at the dreaded Woodscape Apartments. No more worries about worms, expensive bills, lack of service when things break and more than 2x the space for only $200 difference a month. i swear between health hazards and the lack of ixing broken things and they way they are disrespectful to the handicapped I am soooo glad to be out of there.

This is the last post I am making about Texas.

While we were down there they started doing construction so they could repaint all the highway lines on the road and closed down all exits over a 6 mile stretch. We happened to need one of the closed exits. So we continued down the road until we came to the first available exit and made a right - thus taking us in the direction we needed to go - and within 100 ft found a dirt road. Yup a dirt road off of the interstate in Fort Worth. So we are laughing at this and then all of a sudden off to the right there are cows. Just 3 cows but no pen or anything just standing there. We continue to laugh and up ahead we notice…. a stoplight on a dirt road. At this point most of us are approaching hemorrhages we are laughing so hard and off to the left we se coyotes. We knew they weren’t dogs because of how close to the expidition they got… tried and true coyotes…. across from cows on the dirt road next to the portable stoplight. As we continue downt his helarious path we then come to an open manhole cover with two guys going down the hole on a dirt road with a portable stoplight coyotes and cows.

Yup I am never going back to Texas.

Well upon returning home in our need to exit the hell hole that is Texas. I will now openly admit the few good things that happened.

1. Got to hang out with Michael and Berry and everything is groovy again.
2. Got to meet Joe and Kim and actually talk to them and realized they are really nifty.
3. Planned a BBQ with the 6 of us at our house for a housewarming thing in the near future.
4. Because we were really north we stopped and talked to my sister on the way home and it was run to see Reena and Ralph and Stacey.
5. I have run out of good things….

So because of renewed relationships with friends I hold no lasting grudge against the evil state - however that doesn’t mean I will ever be caught dead or alive there again within the next century.

When Gary and I got home last night the dogs just freaked out. They missed us so bad and it was so cute. Jak Jak was all in my face like “no boob pillow for a whole weekend I’m traumatized!” It was hilarious and they are spoiled rotten

When I got into work this morning there is FINALLY some clarity on my job category and what I actually do. It has been driving me nuts and i have had to teach myself not to care so I make it through the day not knowing what to do. Thankfully I have been assigned under Jeff and he has given me tasks boundaries and info on what I should be doing at work. I much prefer this. I really really much prefer this.

Tonight is going to be an absolute bugger. I am going by the old apartment and picking up my wedding dress and all my fun accessories and whatever Gary doesn’t get done today. Hopefully he accomplishes a lot and then there won’t be much for me to do and everything will be finished and i can turn in keys tonight. Am I betting on us getting all of this accomplished? Not on your life. I am already hurting up at work and Gary is strung out enough as it is I want him to make sure he will be OK for work tonight since he is going to have to work until next Monday then oral surgery on Tuesday and recovery day Wednesday.

However all is not lost! I got shagged last night which is always a good thing. I’m going to head out for a bit.

OK so as posted earlier I have headed down to Texas to go to a wedding. I got down here fairly quickly, 3.5 hours, however Gary and his parents and Michael and Berry due to a car accident it took them over 6 hours for the trip. It took them 2 hours to go 5 miles in Fort Worth because of said wreck. So we start off on a rough foot.

Upon getting to the hotel Gary, Cathy and Bill discovered that apparently the one we were referred to was a glorified rat trap so we had to cancel and find a new room at a better hotel. However the better hotel is not that great either, room service closed at 10pm, hotel bar - a beer bar only - closed on a Friday at 11pm. We got to said bar at 10:45 and was completely ignored by the bartender so that she wouldn’t have to get us any drinks before she cashed out the drawer. We also saw a cockroach on the first floor (we are on the 6th). 14 people broke into the pool, they didn’t have a room at the hotel, to swim and goof off and steal the towels and was escorted out by security. The pool was murky not to mention one of the windows was shattered and covered by plywood. The jets in the hot tub were broken and there was gum stick to one side of it. The handle to make sure you safely get in and out of the hot tub moved like a boat rudder and I almost fell trying to get in using it and Joe sprained his ankle. Our sleep number bed doesn’t adjust and isn’t working. We saw an ant in our room and the toilet keeps backing up. The floor isn’t level, the ceiling is a mess, you can tell where they have tried to fix leaks. The chair in our room is broken on one of the legs so it wobbles.  The Guy’s AC isn’t working so with it turned as low as it goes and with all the blinds pulled it’s like 73-76. And there is no coffee maker in the room and there should be.

For the record I truly hate Texas.

On top of all of this the construction down here is ridiculous not to mention the fact that you have to do like 3 u-turns to get anywhere if you are following directions given by mapquest or google maps. We went to a overpriced very pretentious restaurant that wasn’t worth the money we spent for food, mainly because it sucked and no alcohol. It was supposed to be the location for the rehearsal dinner and we were all under the assumption since we spent hundreds of dollars to come down to see our friend off for a wedding, that we would see him after the dinner. In all we saw him for maybe 20 minutes and tomorrow he is wanting to come over for a bar-b-q that starts and noon and will have all of his family and her family and so we still won’t be able to see our friend and we still have an almost four hour drive back home.

The way things are looking I think we are just going to bail tomorrow morning early in hopes we can be back in Oklahoma City by noon. I mean Gary and I still have to go finish off our old apartment and turn in the keys and take the rent check by the landlord. With the old place we still have to move the last of our stuff deep clean the whole place and clean the carpets. All after a four hour drive. Not fun covers most of that descriptor I think.

But if there was one good thing about this whole trip is getting to get on good ground with Michael and Berry and meeting Joe and Kim and actually talking and getting to know them. I would say it is worth the couple hundred we dropped just for that.

Well I am going to call it an night and quit bitching.

Well last night I, being the worry person I am, was freaked about this drive down to Texas. So i ended up staying awake until almost 3:00am packing, doing laundry, cleaning up a bit, snuggling my kids (aka dogs) and trying to make sure everything goes smoothly. So when my alarm roused me at 6:45am i was not a happy camper I am definitely one of those people who require 8 hours of sleep. I mean on the way to work this morning I was drowsy enough not to have road rage, which is a new experience for me, and I pondered over not being angry all the way to work. My only worry is I have 3-4 hours that I have to drive tonight and not much sleep. I guess worst case scenario I can start sending out wake up calls to have people talk to me while I drive. And on the bright side i should go to sleep on time tonight without any problems.

My leg wounds are slowly but surely healing and I think tomorrow will go OK I’m tempted to go by wal-mart and buy some band-aids and just try to go in concealer on my legs with panty hose tomorrow instead of the ace bandages. I am almost done with the steroids the ER gave me (thank god!) they are killing my body and making all of my joints ache and me just feel fairly grumpy.

I packed everything up last night and when Gary came home and we were talking I came to the realization that he has no luggage. It is such a hard thing for me to understand never taking a vacation, never needing luggage so not having any. I mean I didn’t think my family vacationed much we went once every two years and did something. I thought that was standard protocol for most families.

I found an awesome torrent yesterday (thank you demonoid!) that has almost all of Dean Koontz’s work in it. I just read Odd Thomas which I truly loved and was wanting to read the book that was previewed in the back, but unfortunately now isn’t the greatest time to be splurging on books and the like. This next month is going to be almost as tight as last month. Hopefully nothing else unexpected will come up as far as cost is concerned.

I still haven’t been able to finish up cleaning out the old apartment. I tried to lift a box last night and with the number the steroids are doing on my body there was no way in hell that was happening. I still need to clean the place top to bottom, pick up the last few boxes and my wedding dress, and clean all of the carpets. Then hopefully we will be able to get our deposit back in a timely fashion because that $350 could be very handy.

Also I have discovered while writing this how much I truly hate Mac ‘n’ Cheese without milk or butter in it. When it is just the noodles water and the powder cheese dust it is sticky and not nearly as satisfying. When I left the house this morning since I am not going back to the house until we come back from Texas I just grabbed a box to eat not thinking that I don’t have milk or butter. I should have grabbed 2 things of Ramen and just eaten ramen again.

Well I’m rambling and this post probably makes no sense since I am fairly tired. I will probably run by a Starschmucks on my way out and grab a triple vente extra caramel caramel machiato to help me stay awake. The two bottles of Vault in the car should also help.

Well I have a wedding to attend this weekend. A good friend of mine and Gary’s “brother”, Radar, is getting married this weekend down in Texas. I was initially planning on carpooling down there with Cathy and Bill, Gary’s parents whom he is riding down with, but unfortunately I am not getting off work until 4:00pm (I am skipping my lunch) so I’m not going to be able to make the rehearsal dinner/get together or save money on gas. Not to mention I am also going to have a three, almost four, hour drive to Texas all by my lonesome.

I am also worried about what I am going to be wearing to the wedding because of my legs and the glorious state they are in at the moment. I think I am going to pack pants just in case I need to take that route instead of the outfit I bought for the event. Who knows maybe wrapping your legs with Ace bandages while wearing a skirt will become the next hottest fashion trend. Yeah I can hope.

But I have so much stuff to do before heading down there and this evening it is very stressful. So I am doing what I always do when I have things to do… make a list. I don’t know why but the older I get the more lists I make. I never used to make lists in High-school but the list obsession has come about since then.

• Charge the Ipod’s - Vital for driving sanity.
• Charge the laptops - Also vital for sanity since I will probably have them playing a movie or something while I am driving to listen to.
• Buy munchies - can’t do much driving without munchies.
• Practice how I will be doing my eye makeup so I don’t have to spend over an hour on it on Saturday since I never wear makeup.
• Pack - clothing is generally important.
• Make sure everything for Ogre is readily available for the doggie sitting he will be assisting with this weekend.
• Laundry - another important task you can’t really pack dirty clothes for a wedding.
• I need to find my hanging suitcase so I can pack my skirt and top and pants and they won’t get wrinkled.
• Give Gary the mapquest directions for his Mom and the confirmation on the hotel room so they can check in ahead of me.
• Burn Robinhood to DVD - it is taking up valuable harddrive space in the amount of 8GB, but it is two seasons so it’s not that bad on space but still hurting my torrent space capacity.
• Make sure I have everything for medicines when I leave.
• Find a new book to read for when I have free time. I guess I should say If I have free time.
• Charge the Gameboy’s - another vital requirement.
• Track down all of the power cords so that we can have charged phones/gameboys/ipods this weekend.

Not to mention we still have to finish cleaning up the old apartment I think I am going to have to tackle that this Sunday as well however which so isn’t fun. Only reason I haven’t done it this week is because of how inflames my joints are taking the stupid steroids to fix all the bites I have. I just need to look on the bright side and be happy Gary got his promotion and that we are going to Cancun this winter.

Well as anyone who has happened to peruse my site I have extreme variances in luck. It’s either really really good luck… Or really really bad luck… but generally it is on one end of the spectrum and nowhere near the happy warm and fuzzy middle. My last week is a fabulous example.

I went for my colonoscopy on Friday. I was terrified, Gary went with me and put up with my state of irrepressible panic which he thought was frighteningly cute for some reason, and he sat with me for the hour and a half I had to wait in a hospital gown. They took me back when I found out they were going to give me drugs and I shouldn’t remember a thing. Then I found out what they were giving me…. Benadryl. Now for most humans 70mg of benadryl isn’t considered and OMG drug of choice. However I have the tolerance of a woolly mammoth when it comes to pain medications ever since my back surgery. Towards teh end I was taking Morphine and Valium at the same time multiple times a day and crying in pain. It was not a fun time. But after the surgery in April of 2007 I was completely off all drugs by July 1 except for Mobic once a day which I take because I have arthritis/inflamed joints. However back to the Benadryl. For some reason I become frighteningly stoned when given Benadryl, to the point I have been sent home, with a driver for me, from work before because I took a 24 hour release pill. So 70mg intravenously knocked me on my ass and I apparently begged repeatedly to go to Chillies for food.

But when I fell asleep in and out of sleep on the couch as my former post states, I had been attacked by something on my legs as shown in the pictures below.

After my visit to the beloved ER and speaking with the Doctor on staff… he had no bloody idea what bit me. He gave me two different types of steroids and gave me some medications to stop the itching, which kind of help, and a lotion that everyone in the house has to put on to make sure that no one else gets bit by whatever is biting people. We sprayed down the house with Deet because it is safe and can kill pretty much anything bug related that bites. Bought a spreader for the back yard and bug killer so that we have that form of protection now as well. Put the magical stuff on the dogs so they can’t bring in bugs. (Which we needed to do anyway.) And then proceeded to wash everything that is in the living room and buy $100 worth of couch covers so that we can really really make sure that we won’t have issues. (As you can see we are currently on the wrong end of the Karma spectrum)

On top of this I did Gary’s laundry for his work clothes on Monday and forgot to put them in the Dryer so yesterday he was like 5 minutes late for work because of me. His infection in his mouth has also flared up like never before because the dentist only gave him six days worth of antibiotics for a really really bad infection in 3 abscesses in his mouth. But even though that happened we are heading towards the good end of the spectrum.

When I went to Wal-Mart to pick up his antibiotics I heard on 98.9 KYIS FM that they were having a vacation a day in May for an all expenses paid trip to Mexico. The song of the day was the Fugees - Killing Me Softly, now I love this song and I was like… that’s kinda neat. Spent another 5 minutes attempting to find a parking place and went in bought the antibiotics was out of the car for like 20 minutes and hopped back in. Now here is where the irony starts.

1. I never listen to 98.9 on the way home I listen to it on the way to work generally.
2. I never call into radio station contests because back in 2002 I worked for a radio station for a short time and learned that it is almost impossible to win.
3. At the moment I was at the wrong end of the spectrum so nothing good could come of this according to my brain.

So I pull out onto 15th and low and behold the Fugees comes on, brain goes… I love this song…. why not call, you aren’t going to win but you could skew the results. So I grab my cell (worst thing ever for calling radio stations to win stuff) and call. And I won an all expense paid trip to Cancun. I couldn’t believe it! So I am now taking Gary on a romantic getaway probably in December - February simply because I am allergic to the sun and going in the summer is just to hard on my skin. But I am so excited!!! We just have to find time to get Gary his passport and we are on our way.
